If you missed the thousands of photos floating around on social media from last weekend's Coachella music festival, you may have missed the memo that choker necklaces are ALL the rage. Chokers are back and bigger than ever. Celebrities, bloggers, and Instagram superstars can't seem to get enough of this trend. Bold, bling, or simplicity - there's a choker that's right for you. Pair it with your favorite t-shirt, romper and dress. The trendy chicness of the choker is a must have this summer.
If you welcomed Spring like I did, in bed with the never ending flu, I'm sorry. If you welcomed Spring like I had hoped to, by sipping a sparkling cocktail on a roof deck, I'm jealous. Either way, Spring is OFFICIALLY here. Round of applause. Don't let the door hit you (and that horrific flu bug) on the way out Winter!
As sleeve lengths begin to rise there is no better time to invest in fun wrist wear that will carry you through the warmer seasons. Here are a few watches I am lusting over at the moment.
I saw this watch at Nordstrom and all but died! GORGEOUS.
This watch screams Spring with its crisply braided band and pastel pink face. (ONLY $18.00!)
LOVING this tonal floral watch - subtle yet so perfect for Spring!
Let's be honest...nothing says "Warm Weather Ahead" like this sunny watch!
(It's a good mood booster too)
Yesterday morning when I woke up Phil (boyfriend) let me know that he had plans for us. He told me to get dressed in a comfortable outfit that I would wear everyday, nothing special. After a quick teeth brush, comb through the hair and two spritz's of perfume we were out the door. He nonchalantly set his IPhone GPS and snuck frequent peaks as we began to head north. Now, I typically try to figure these kinds of things out but yesterday I was in an overly relaxed mood and decided to sit back and enjoy the ride. As we exited the freeway one hour later Phil introduced me to the quaint town of Rockport, MA. It's city center was like something out of a story book, each petite storefront was more adorable than the last. Ice cream stands graced every corner and the views overlooking the water were breathtaking. If any of you have ever seen the movie The Proposal with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, know it was filmed in Rockport, MA. That should give you a better idea of yesterday's surroundings. There were art galleries, bead stores, knick knack shops and restaurants lining the entire waterfront but one specific corner store caught my eye.
The Wicked Peacock sat right smack dab in the middle of it all, and perhaps it wasn't the location that drew me in. I am assuming it was the "Accessories Boutique" sign plastered over the door that grabbed my attention. Upon entrance I was welcomed by the store's outgoing, friendly owner who informed us that this was her second day, her grand opening had been on Saturday. This instantly excited me as I am a fan of dreamers and their will power to execute their visions. After a quick look around the shop I was pleased with the trendy, unique and fabulously priced pieces she had on display. I ended up purchasing a cross ring that is long enough to lay over my three fingers, it's a conversation starter and unlike anything I currently own. I am already in love! We thanked her, wished her success and were on our way.
Our next stop was lunch! A seaside restaurant where you are your own waitress and you sit at picnic tables welcomed us with open arms and delicious smells. Two lobster rolls and a bowl of New England clam chowder later we were warm, full and ready to head home. My Rockport date was incredible and the discover of this little town is one I will not forget.
How was your weekend?
When it comes to accessories I find that many women have a love/hate relationship with them. They love the look, the sparkle and the detail but hate deciding what goes with what and when they are wearing too much or not enough. Learning to accessorize is super simple and lots of fun with just a few pointers.
- You can never wear to many bracelets - I believe God gave us long arms so that we are able to stack them with a variety of bracelets, bangles, and cuffs all at once! Sparkle on the wrist is the épitomé of glamour and femininity.
- Earrings and Necklaces go hand in hand - Their look needs to coordinate, I am not a fan of “sets” but this is not the place to mix silver and gold.
- Earring size determines necklace size and vice versa - If you are wearing over the top chandelier earrings eliminate the idea of a necklace or stick with one that is simple and delicate. If you are wearing an outrageous statement necklace wear studs, nothing dangly. Keeping accessories balanced is key to executing any look.
- Two to three rings per hand - If these seems like overkill to you, no worries! I just don’t recommend wearing more than 2-3 rings on each hand for fear that you will look like a gypsy wannabee. If you aren’t a ring fan then leave them behind. If you have multiple thin-banded rings try stacking them on top of one another for a more unique, eye-catching look.
Accessorizing can be the best part of fashion if you are confident in what you are doing. With these simple tips you cannot go wrong, your accessorizing will be perfection every time!
