Seeing seasons and holidays through Ruby's eyes is one of my favorite things about parenthood. Everything is new and exciting for her and Phil and I love experiencing them with her. Now that fall is in full swing we have taken advantage of pumpkin patches, hayrides, and petting zoos and she couldn't be more obsessed.

In Chicago, the Lincoln Park Zoo has a fantastic pumpkin patch on the weekends. Ruby spent a long weekend in Ohio with my parents and they spent their Saturday in Amish country. Lots of petting goats, picking pumpkins, and (of course) eating! Heck, even Home Depot and Trader Joe's have pallets of pumpkins (which is where we got our pumpkin from!). Happy Fall!

I love Pottery Barn, Nordstrom, Gap, Crate & Barrel, and Anthropologie just as much as the next person, but it's nice to find pieces every so often from lesser known brands. The next time you're shopping for something specific consider digging a little deeper, the amount of talent in this world is incredible, you never know what you will find!

1. ReformationEco-friendly Women's Clothing. This is my go to site when I need a "wow" piece for a special event. Their clothes are simplistically streamlined fashion forward.

2. By George Baby Boutique. This Etsy shop is too adorable for words. If you or anyone you know is having a baby/or has a baby be sure to take a look at their precious textiles. Think crib sheets, swaddles, changing pad covers, and boppy covers.

3. The Citizenry. Home Decor curated from around the world. If you're looking for truly unique and one of a kind pieces to add to your home, this is the site for you.

4. Lennox + Lane. Women's clothing boutique located in New Orleans (but they have a fabulous online shop). Fun rocker style with a hint of sophistication.

5. Artifact Uprising. I LOVE this shop. I am head over heels for their float frames. This company solves the problem of getting our memories off of our devices and into our hands, and they have some GREAT gift ideas.

6. Caitlin Wilson Textiles. Because my brain is full of all things house related I was happy when I stumbled upon this feminine and fun online shop. Caitlin's wallpapers and fabrics are divine (One of her wallpapers is actually in the running for our bathroom redo).

Coming home to high's in the 60's after a warm weekend in Nashville was just the reminder I needed that fall has indeed arrived (and scary winter is on its way). After an intense day of online shopping (thanks to my birthday money and gift cards) these were the pieces I decided I just couldn't live without this fall. I made sure to follow my tried and true "3 ways rule" before pulling the trigger on ANY of these pieces. And those boots, honestly I can't think of anything I DON'T want to wear them with. Obsessed!

Zara Turtleneck Sweater in Black - $29.90

I can't wait to wear this side slit sweater with the black trousers below, all of my printed summer culottes, fitted mini skirts, and of course jeans!

Zara Poplin Top with Knot - $49.90

This top makes a definite statement! I'll be wearing it to work and date night. Again, I think this will pair beautifully with the black trousers (and boots!) below for a more dressed up look and with a distressed boyfriend jean to keep it casual.

Zara Flowing Cropped Trousers - $29.90

Elastic waist? YES. These pants will be a fall staple for sure. Pairing them with the below ankle boot will keep them looking super modern. Top it with the black sweater from above and you have a gorgeous monochromatic (super comfy) outfit.

Zara Dress with Chest Frill in Black - $49.90

Love this dress! I plan on wearing it as it is or topping it with the camel cardigan below (and of course the ankle boots). Grab a deep hue of lipstick and you are ready to go.

H&M Fine Knit Cardigan in Beige - $59.99

I'll throw this over dresses, over button ups, and over one of my 10,000 t-shirts to take them from summer to fall instantly.

H&M Chunky Turtleneck Sweater in Light Beige - $39.99

This made its way into my cart because it truly can be worn any day to any event. I love how this looks with denim but also plan to dress it up with black trousers and boots from above. There is nothing like an oversized comfy sweater. Fall I love you!

Little Girl's Bedroom Rugs

Lately I have been obsessing over a rug for Ruby's bedroom. I have had a hard time coming up with an inspiration piece this time around. This will be Ruby's third nursery in her short 17 months of life, so maybe I am just out of ideas!

I debated about wallpapering her room but decided something so permanent for someone who will have LOTS of opinions of her own very soon was too risky. Her room will be painted in Benjamin Moore's Frostine. She has a large window looking out onto our deck and ivy covered brick wall, the bright white seems to highlight and bring the outdoors in.

I digress, ok, in terms of inspiration I think the rug will be the focus of Ruby's bedroom. After hours and hours of rug browsing I have narrowed it down to my 5 favorites. They are completely different from one another so I just need to decide what colors and look I prefer.

Do you have a favorite?

While I'm thankful for the 90 degree days we have had here in Chicago this week, I can't help but look forward to fall, the holidays, and a change from my summer wardrobe. This fall I have 3 things on my mind.

I created 3 looks below incorporating my favorites to hopefully inspire you for fall.
