Wedding season is right around the corner encouraging brides to make the final dress decision for their leading ladies. My 2013 save-the-dates and wedding invitations decorate my refrigerator and my hunt for the perfect fitting bridesmaid dress is underway! Like everyone knows wedding costs add up quickly with no exception for the bridesmaids. They have wedding showers, bachelorette parties, gifts for the doting couple, spray tans, hair, makeup, shoes, jewelry and their dresses to worry about. A bridesmaid would never complain because they are honored to stand next to the bride on her special day but financially it can take a toll. Bridesmaid dress prices seem to have spiked in the last few years (I blame that on Pinterest and their wedding obsession phenomenon) making choosing a dress even more difficult for the bride who wishes she could afford to pick up the tab. After a little searching and creativity I found six beautiful bridesmaid dresses that will make any bride proud of her girls for under $100.
I started my search at well-known department stores making it easy for out of town bridesmaids to score the right dress. Macy’s has an enormous selection of cocktail and formal wear and this Jessica Simpson cranberry one shoulder dress would be the perfect pop of color for any outdoor ceremony ringing in at $69.99. Next I headed to Dillards where I spotted this Adrianna Papell metallic peplum dress for $99.00. I love metallic any time of the year for either an indoor or outdoor ceremony, gold is always in style.
After combing the racks of the departments stores I think it is a good idea for the bride to check out a few of her personal favorite stores. She will know and like the style of the dresses they have to offer and maybe come across an unconventional dress that will work perfectly for her girls. I took this advice to heart and headed to ZARA where I came across this funky, modern frilled dress. I am obsessed with all things black and white and was instantly drawn to this contemporary take on a classic silhouette with a price tag of $99.00. Asos was my next stop; I am guaranteed to find exactly what I am looking for (and usually more) with the amount of merchandise they have to offer. I fell in love with this sweet navy lace tank dress and its velvet ivory belt. I can picture this being worn at a late August or early September wedding and wowing wedding guests. Its simple yet feminine look combined with its meager price tag of $61.57 will have any bridesmaid smiling from ear to ear.
Lastly I scoured the sites of a few of my favorite discount spots and found some great deals! Getting a reduced price dress may take a little more effort as the sizes and quantity available may be limited. With a little patience and a good tailor I promise you will be victorious and come in under budget. I found this beautiful silver lace ruffle dress that retailed for $178.00 marked down to $55.24 on Bluefly. This gorgeous dress would shine at an outdoor summer wedding and work wonders on most body types. Rent the Runway is the jackpot of potential bridesmaid dresses. As much as brides want to pick dresses that their girls can “wear again” this is NEVER the case. We have all seen 27 Dresses, those gowns hang in the back of the closet for years before they are either thrown away or donated. Rent the Runway provides the perfect solution. The bride chooses the dress she wants her bridesmaids to wear, everyone orders their size, wears it for the night and returns it the next day. TA DA! The quality of their dresses is unmatched and their prices make every designer gown affordable. This David Meister floor length gown is fabulous and retails for $575 but is available to rent for $100. Incredible!
With a lot of searching and a little creativity any wedding can be beautiful on a small budget. The bridesmaid dresses are no exception!
