I mentioned in Friday's Oscar Party Ideas post my intentions to bake Oscar appropriate cupcakes for Sunday's awards show. I was unable to find gold wrappers but decided silver would do. I also made a last minute decision and opted for cream cheese frosting as opposed to milk chocolate simply because I like cream cheese more than chocolate. I followed the red velvet cake box instructions exactly and I am excited to announce that my cupcakes emerged moist and plump from the oven, which isn't always my luck. As the cupcakes cooled I spooned store bought frosting into a ziplock bag and snipped the bottom corner. Swirling icing onto each cake seemed simple enough but icing quickly began oozing out of the bag in twenty different directions. I survived and each cupcake was successfully frosted. They were finished off with a single raspberry to tie in the bold color of the red carpet.
I of course taste tasted my delightful treats and was thrilled with the finished product! I can't wait to serve my award worthy cupcakes during this years Oscars. Bon appetit!
